Our Child & Family Support Network Community Worker, Sinéad Roarke, is responsible for implementing the Meitheal family support model in the local area - you can hear her talk about this work in the video above.
Meitheal is a national practice model that enables the needs and strengths of children and their families to be identified and ensures the right supports are made available to them in a co-ordinated and easy to access way, when they need them.
The idea is to bring together a team of people from support agencies to work with the family to get the help and support needed to improve the wellbeing of the child and their family.
The support sessions are parent-led, focusing on the strengths of the family and very much including the voice of the child. Children and young people are encouraged to attend and take part.
Our Meitheal worker is facilitating the roll-out of Meitheal - which involves providing training in the model to community organisations, local schools and statutory services. She also facilitates Meitheal support meetings with families.
